SEED TIP OF THE MONTH | SEPTEMBER
What Did You Do On Your Summer Vacation?
Have you and your colleagues shared stories about your
summer adventures?
Do you feel a strong sense of connection with your team?
Or do you work in an environment where the focus is all business?
Have you ever felt like a robot, laboring to complete assigned tasks, in a lifeless, joyless work environment where nobody really knows who you are, and all the work is “urgent?”
If so, then you know firsthand that the more we busy ourselves with the drudgery of work, the less we accomplish.
Duke University basketball coach Mike
Krzyzewski has said:
“Two are better than one if two act as one.”
So how do we make that happen?
The foundation for teamwork is human connection.
We can set the tone for deeper human connection by beginning our meetings with a simple device called “Check-In.”
Explore this magical meeting device. We promise you will find it to be a tremendous time-saver.
When you begin a meeting with a quick check-in, you demonstrate that everyone matters; people connect and become motivated to elicit more from each other. Diverse viewpoints are increasingly appreciated. New ideas show up. Playful experimentation and skilled vulnerability expand in the work culture.
It’s just that easy. You can limit each person to 5-seconds, 30-seconds, or 2-minutes each, and focus the question to support your meeting objectives.
In what type environment are you most productive?
Practice checking in. We look forward to hearing what happens: possibilites@seedimpact.org.
